Up until this time, I just directed everyone to IKEA in either Chicago or Cincinnatti….well, ladies, this morning I found the IKEA link where you can order them yourself! To top it off, each rack is only $1.99! So, here you go….enjoy!

Eastern Blooms Samples

27 Aug

Here’s a couple samples using one of the 15% off sale sets. The set used is Eastern Blooms. I made these at convention this year. The first sample is a simple bookmark. It features some of our new accessories including an On Board Chipboard frame. This frame can be found in both the On Board Essentials and the On Board Something Seasonal. The ribbon is our new 5/8″ striped grosgrain. This ribbon comes in all the In Colors. The color used here is Pacific Point. Finally, this project includes one of my favorite new accessories, pieces from the Filigree Designer Brads.

This next project was created using a technique called debossing. What this means is that you dry emboss the image using the matching brass template but instead of using the raised side, you flip it over and use the recessed side. In order to get the white to show, you gently brayer over the image. This card uses the new In Colors of Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze and Tangerine Tango.

Faux Postage

25 Aug

Here’s a simple technique that gives a great look to any card…faux postage. The hardest part about this technique is finding a faux postage template…..but not to worry, I’ve included that for your downloading pleasure below! First of all, if you’re not familiar with Faux Postage, here’s a sample I created using the Just B set.

To get started, the first thing you want to do is download the faux postage template.
Faux Postage Template

    Creating an acetate overlay…

1. Print out the sheet of templates onto cardstock.
2. Cut out one of the templates and place a piece of acetate (transparency) over top.
3. Next, with a cutting mat underneath, using your hobby blade, cut out smaller rectangles inside of the lines of the template. I usually do these freehand, no need for them to be exact.

4. You will now have an overlay to use again and again.

To create the faux postage piece…

1. Lay the acetate mask over the CS faux postage piece. Stamp the image you wish to use in each rectangle.

2. Using a dauber or sponge, dab color onto the stamped image.
3. Remove the acetate mask and there you have it!

Here’s another Faux Postage sample. This one uses the new set Owl Together Now. Accessories include My Way punch, 5/8″ Olive Grosgrain, and Summer Picnic Designer paper. Card measures 5 1/2″ X 5 1/2″.

Baby Card Idea

24 Aug

Well, it’s Sunday evening and I still have school work to get done…definitely procrastinating. I didn’t want to go without giving you an idea for today, however. Below is an adorable card I saw on display at Convention. It uses our scallop circle punch to really enhance the card. Hope you enjoy it.

New Scallop Border Punch

23 Aug

Here it is…the best punch of all…ok, one of the best, but we have so many! This one, however, creates a scallop border….finally!

To create a scallop, all you do is insert the cardstock into the punch and punch.

Next, you move the cardstock over so that the scallop you just created lines up with the scallop imprinted on the punch. Then, just punch again and repeat until you have the length you desire.

Here’s a sample I created using the new Wow Flowers Set. Cardstock colors are from our new In Color Line; tangerine tango, kiwi kiss, and Pacific Point. In addition, I used the scallop circle punch, and the 1 inch and 1 1/4 inch circle punch. The thank you is embossed in white.

You can also use the scallop border punch to create a ric-rac border.

To do this, I started with a 1 inch strip of cardstock. Punch the scallop as before on one side. Turn it around, but when placing this side into the punch, line up the original scallop so that the center of it is on a line.

Now when punching, you’ll get a ric-rac border.

Here’s a card I created with the ric-rac border. It uses all the colors and stamp sets listed above plus the set Celebrate Everything. In addition, I’ve used the word window punch.

Mini Card/Album

21 Aug

Here’s a cute little album or mini card (whichever you prefer) that we created at convention this year. It utilizes the Textured Love Notes found in the SU catalog. The actual size of this is 3 1/8″ X 3 1/8″. The front is created with the new set, Eastern Blooms, the chocolate chip marker with the spritzer tool and old olive grosgrain ribbon. To add a special touch, I added beads from our orange Bead Duo.

To create the front and back, seal one envelope and tuck the flap into the other. The insides are created with 2 cards from the love notes placed in between the envelopes.

All the pieces are joined together by punching with the crop-a-dile and tying with ribbon.

Finally, I inserted another piece of Tangerine Tango inside the back envelope.

So there you have it, today’s entry. Give it a try and let me know how it turns out. In the meantime, have a great Friday!
