Oval Frame With Vinyl Decor Flowers

8 Apr

Created by Kathy Alt

This was my first attempt at creating vinyl decor with my Big Shot and I must say, it was very easy!

Big Shot Dies:  Scallop Oval, Blossom Party, Polka Dot Embossing Folder

  1. Cut the oval out of the designer paper.  Be careful with this as the paper has to lie diagonally.
  2. I have already cut the white frame, run this through the Big Shot in the polka dot embossing folder.
  3. To add the white frame to the designer paper, you will need to use the 2 small scraps of CS and put adhesive on them.  Place them so that they span the opening where the frame is going to be.  Then place the frame on top of the adhesive.  You will also be adding sticky strip along the bottom and the side corners as shown.  This will create a pocket to slide your picture into.

4.  You are now going to create vinyl decals that could also be used on your walls, but we are adding them to the picture frame.

5. First, cut out 3 of the small daisy and 3 of the centers from the Blossom Party Die.

6.  Using the dotto, (temporary adhesive), place the 3 dots on a scrap of CS and emboss white dots using the versamark and white embossing powder.  Be sure to use the embossing buddy first! Also, do not overheat when embossing.  Remove centers from CS.

7.  To change the die cuts to vinyl clings, complete the following steps.

*Place the flower, right-side up on the table. (Backing paper should be down.)

*Remove the backing from the backing sheet, keep the sticky side and lay it over the flower.  Rub this firmly

to adhere to the flower.

*Repeat this with the centers and the other flowers.

*To adhere the image to the frame surface, peel off the back of the vinyl and place on the frame.

* Use the tool to rub over the top of the image.

* Carefully pull off the backing sheet from the vinyl image.  It works best to pull down at an angle.

* Add the centers the same way.

Pocket Card With the Two-Step Bird Punch

7 Apr

Anniversary/Wedding Card

Stamp set:  I Heart Hearts

Punches: Scallop Trim Border and Scallop Trim Corner, Extra large 2-Step Bird

Creating a Perfect Bordered Insert:

  1. Holding your corner punch upside down so you can see what you’re doing from the bottom, slip each corner of the square right to the corner of the cutting edge (the “v” shape).  Be careful not to go all the way into the punch, just feed it to the corners are lined up with the punch.
  2. Punch all 4 corners 1st.
  3. To punch the sides, line up just one corner.  Punch first one side and then slide your cardstock over and line up the opposite corner and punch the other side. As long as you line up your corners, you should come out fine each time.
  4. Stamp the saying using Orchid Opulence.

Creating the pocket card:

  1. Fold the card in half and then fold the top of the front of the card down approximately 1 3/8” from the top.
  2. Using the border punch, edge the flap.
  3. Punch the corners on the Old Olive CS and then run through the Big Shot using the Finial Press Embossing Folder.  The sandwich for this is:

Multi-purpose platform opened to tab 1

  1. Attach the Designer Paper to the flap with adhesive and glue embossed old olive piece onto the card and then fasten the flap using the gold brads and the 1/8” punch.
  2. Using the 2-step bird punch, punch out:  2 orchid birds, 2 white wings, and 2 olive branches.
  3. Use the Hearts stamp inked in Razzelberry to add pattern to the wings and stamp another heart on white.
