Tuesday’s Tip: New Foam Pads

10 Jul

If you’ve seen the new catalog, you’re probably aware that Stampin’ Up! has come out with a new style of ink pad.  In my opinion, these new ink pads are fabulous!  They are much juicier than the others and produce a really sharp, stamped image.  Today I wanted to share some tips that will give you the best use of these pads.  Here goes…

  1. When inking up a stamp, do not push too hard on the pad.  Unlike the old pads, the foam pads will allow the stamp to “smoosh” down into them and you’ll end up getting ink on the edges of the stamp and thus producing unwanted ink lines.  Instead, just lightly tap your stamp onto the pad.
  2. Because these new pads release more ink onto your stamp, and they retain less ink, they will need to be re-ink sooner than the old felt pads.
  3. All the colors have remained the same so your old refills can be used to re-ink the new pads.  There are, however,  five colors that have been reformulated, you should not use the old refills on these colors if you get the new pads.  Note, however, that you can use the new refills to re-ink the old pads.  The reformulated colors are:
  • Basic Black
  • Basic Gray
  • Tempting Turquoise
  • Marina Mist
  • Perfect Plum

4.  When you first get a new pad, you will find labels for the case itself on the bottom of the pad.  These labels are offered in 4 languages.  You should peel off the label of your choice and adhere it to the end of the pad where you push to open.

I hope you enjoy using these new ink pads as much as I do!
