My First Post as a SSInkspiration Designer!

1 Jul

I’m thrilled to have been asked to join the Stampin’Stylin’ INKspiration Design Team. This is a great group of demonstrators with fantastic ideas, so I’m hoping I can do the group justice! If you don’t know about SSinkspiration, be sure to visit the SSINKspiration Pinterest Page and the SSINKspiration Website for all the great ideas.

While I really enjoy summer, one of the highlights is always watching those fireworks (except for those loud, booming, white flashes!)  So, when I wanted to create a 4th of July card, one technique that reminded me of the fading out of the fireworks was the Bokeh technique.  If you haven’t tried it, you must.  It’s lots of fun and the possibilities are endless!  Here’s what I came up with, but be sure to check out all the other cards the designers have created over at SSINKspiration.

July 1 postingIn case you’re not familiar with the Bokeh technique, here are some simple step-by step instructions.

  1. Using aqua painter, cover watercolor paper with water.
  2. Get ink in lids of stamp pads and use aqua painter to place color over
the wet surface.  Cover the entire service as desired.
  3.   Either allow to dry or use heat tool to speed up the drying process.
  4. Using the punched circle templates**, the dauber, and the white craft ink, dab on various circles.  To do this, start with the largest circle, then work your way to the smallest circle.  Finally, add white ink directly with the dauber.  There is no right or wrong way to add your circles, but layering (daubing one circle over another), does add dimension.

**Punched circle templates were created using a small 2 X 2 Square of scrap card stock and then punch the 1″, 1-1/4″ and 1-3/4″ circle in the middle of the square.
