Friday Favorite – Mini Treat Bag Thinlits

25 Mar

Today over on the SSInkspiration Blog, the Designers are showcasing some of their favorites.  Today, i’m featuring the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.  There’s lots you can do with these, but I recently found out the bag is a perfect size for a packet of seeds!

To create today’s project, I also used a circle framelit (but you could use a punch) and the stamp set Petite Petals along with the leaves from the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies.  Here’s the finished project.

Washi Butterfly

23 Mar

Spring is here….finally!  Of course, it snowed on the 1st day of Spring.  That’s just not right!  But making a few of these little guys helped to get the spring fever going!  Everything except the clothespin and the jellybeans are Stampin’ Up! materials.    This first one was my original.

2016-03-20 20.39.05

Here is one with a little different washi tape combination that one of my club members, Cindy B. created.

2016-03-21 19.32.33There are a few secrets to making this work….

  1.  The wings are made from a clear envelope.  Be careful not to fill them too full so that you can squish the envelope together  in the center.    2016-03-21 19.28.28
  2.  The antennae is made from a paperclip.  Just unbend the clip and wrap with washi tape.  Cut to the desired length and bend with a pliers.
  3. Use a piercing tool to poke holes in the top of the clothespin for the antennae and insert them along with a drop of the liquid multi-purpose glue.
  4. Use the owl punch to punch out the white eyes and a 1/8″ circle punch to punch out the black eyes.
  5. Punch the mouth using the 1/2″ circle punch.
  6. Cut out your tag using the Tags & Labels framelits and stamp your saying.
  7. Add the tag to the butterfly using ribbon.

Honeycomb Happiness

16 Mar

Sale-a-bration is quickly coming to an end…only 15 more days to get any of the great sets offered this year.  Today I’m featuring a card with the Honeycomb Happiness set.  I just love the chick!  Remember if you’d like to order anything seen on this post, you can just click on the items in the product list below!

To create this first card, I just used my aqua painter and some ink to add the water coloring.

If you wanted to add a little extra pizzazz….you could always add one of the super cute honeycomb embellishments found in the 2016 Occasions Catalog.

To get the Pacific Point color to match the card, I just used a little spritz mixture with some rubbing alcohol and some Pacific Point ink refill.

(Boy, looking at the lid on this refill, it’s no wonder my finders are blue!)

Anyway, here’s the finished project!  If you’d like to see more Sale-a-Bration samples, check out what the other designers have created over at the SSInkspiration Blog.

2015 SSINK Blog Hop Badge

I’m glad you could join me!  Hopefully you’re enjoying our Sale-a-bration blog hop.  If you’ve just started here, you’re in for a treat as there are 7 stops on our  hop today!  As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog! We are always excited to hear from our followers! You should have just left stop number (#2) on the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration Blog Hop –Jenny G Paper Crafts. If so, you are in the right spot. If a link doesn’t work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

Today I’ve decided to share a couple samples using the What I Love Sale-a-bration set.  I have to admit that sometimes intricate designs that are two-step sets like this set intimidate me, but once I started working with the set, I found it to be quite easy. The secret is you have to use the little arrows on the stamp to line things up.  Here’s my 1st sample.

2016-03-06 15.52.22

Of course, this card could easily be transformed by using other colors and the other saying that comes in the set.  When choosing colors, you just want to choose two colors in which one is lighter than the other or you can use one color and stamp off for the 1st layer and use the “full strength” color for the 2nd layer.  In the first card I used Pink Pirouette and Rose Red.  In the card below, I used Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant.

Which one do you like better?  I’d love to see and or hear about your favorite color combinations that would work with this set.

Card Dimensions:

Base:  8-1/2″ X 4-1/4″
1st layer:  8-1/4″ X 4″
Glimmer Paper:  3″ X 3-1/2″
White layer:  2-3/4″ X 3-1/4″

Thank’s for spending  some time with me.  The next stop on the blog is at Stampin Fun with Diana.

Where I work, there are 5 women all expecting babies within weeks of each other.  I’m soooo glad I didn’t drink the water!!!  Anyway, looks like I’ll be needing plenty of baby cards.  Here’s a real simple one that’s perfect for that sweet little new baby girl.

What’s so nice is that I didn’t have to cut out the ears because the Friends & Flowers set goes with the Festive Flower Builder Punch!  Love that they coordinate!
