The new sponge brayers are easy to use and inexpensive and can produce some great effects, especially when coupled with the Irresistably Yours Floral Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Today’s card  couldn’t be any simpler to create.  All the details are available on the Free Tutorial Sheet below.  For other Quick and Easy Cards, hop on over the SSINKspiration Blog page and see what the other designers have created.

Watercolor with Acrylic Blocks

6 Oct

Today I’m sharing a great technique for a little wow that’s quick!  To create the background, all I did was ink the acrylic block witht the Stampin’ Write markers and then spritz with water.  I didn’t want a complete watery background…does that make sense?  So, I only spritzed twice.

This fold is truly addictive once you’ve tried it.  I actually gave this card to my nephew for his birthday  (Happy Birthday, Nicolas!) and everyone at the party opened and closed it to figure out how it worked!  It was fun to watch.  All the details on how to make this are below.  And if you’d like other fun fold ideas, be sure to check out what the other designers have created over at SSInkspiration today!

Simple Watercolor Technique

15 Jul

Today’s topic on SSInkspiration is watercoloring.  Now I like quick and simple and often times watercoloring is not associated with quick and simple, but this card couldn’t be any easier!  I had originally seen this done on my good friend, Melissa Stout’s (aka The Stamp Doc) blog.  After trying it just once, I couldn’t get enough of this technique!

with watermarkDirections:

1.  To begin, place drops of ink refill in a small dish/bowl/paint tray.
2.  Stamp the saying of your choice in Versamark on the Shimmery White CS and emboss in White using your heat tool.
3.  Spritz the Shimmery White CS with water.  Don’t be afraid to be too generous with the water…you can always wipe it off
4.  Pick up refill ink with your aqua painter and brush on the wet card.  Repeat this process with all colors until you achieve
your desired look.
5.  When finished, either allow to dry naturally or use your heat tool to speed up the process.
6.  Punch the butterfly from Vellum Cardstock and adhere to the dried card.
7.  Add some rhinestones for a little bling.

That’s all that’s too it!  I hope you enjoy doing this technique as much as I do!

Flower Patch Meets Chalk Coloring

29 Jun

To create this look, I inked the embossing folder with Versamark, then gently closed the embossing folder and rubbed the ink onto the black cardstock.  Next, emboss that image with white embossing powder and color in with your white chalk marker.  Then stamp, cut-out, etc and get a really neat look!

Northern Lights

23 Dec

Someday, I hope to see the real Northern Lights.  Until then, I have to settle for pictures and creating them for myself.  This is great technique to do, especially on winter cards.

1.  Using either sponges or sponge daubers and sponge on 3 or 4 different colors.
2.  Sponge black ink around the edges and then around each color.  Continue to sponge on black till you get the look you desire.
